During the Business Meeting of the SIO on August 5., 1993 in Osaka I have proposed as official representative of the SGSPO, to incorporate the SGSPO into the SIO as a specialized working group according to the "By-laws of the SIO" art. 2a. This motion was unanimously agreed by the Business Meeting on the following conditions: "The SGSPO should not cause any costs to the SIO. The results of its activity should be submitted in the next SIO Symposion in 1995 (Essen, Germany)". In my character of new elected Council Member I will function as contact person between the SIO and the SGSPO. Beyond that it was noted that the SGSPO should restrict its activities as specialized working group to the promotion and development of a modern phylogenetic system of Odonata on and above the family level. The journal PETALURA shall function as communicative organ of the group members; original papers should be preferably published in Odonatologica or other SIO-organs (e.g. SIO Rapid Communications). The establishment of regular local meetings for the exchange of views and experiences was approved.

Comment by the Editor:

Original papers will be accepted for publication in PETALURA when the manuscripts are not (yet) suited for publication in Odonatologica etc., but the content is of considerable interest for the group members. These papers shall initiate fruitful discussions between the authors and the other group members, which shall also lead to a later publication of these papers in the appropriate periodicals. Preliminary research reports, summarizing reviews and english translations of original papers (e.g. in russian) are the most likely candidates for this kind of publication. Papers that are introducing new taxonomic names of any rank will not be accepted for publication in PETALURA. Any publications in PETALURA that are considered to be worthwhile a publication in one of the other SIO periodicals can be reprinted in these periodicals without any further permission by the editor of PETALURA.

(UPDATE 17th June 1998: Because of the internal crisis of SIO and its successor FSIO, as well negative actions of certain official representatives of SIO/FSIO, SGSPO has been again separated from FSIO by the chairman on 15th June 1998, and the general permission for reprinting publications of PETALURA in FSIO periodicals is withdrawn. New taxonomic names on the species-, genus- or family-group level should not be published in PETALURA, but higher taxa above the family-group level may be published in this journal since they are not governed by the IRZN.)
